CFO Advisory Services
You don't need a full-time CFO. You need their answers.
CFO advisory means getting the strategic financial guidance a Chief Financial Officer provides, cash flow forecasting, profitability analysis, and growth planning, without a six-figure salary. If that still sounds vague, that's normal. Here's what it actually means for your business.

Let's Start With the Basics
What Is CFO Advisory, Really?
A lot of business owners have heard the term "CFO" and assumed it's only for big companies with big budgets. It isn't. It's simply the difference between someone who records your numbers, and someone who uses them to help you make decisions.
Looks Backward
Bookkeeper
Records what already happened. Keeps every transaction categorized, reconciled, and accurate so your books reflect reality.
Looks at Compliance
Accountant / Tax Preparer
Reports and files. Turns your books into tax returns and financial statements that satisfy the IRS, a lender, or an investor.
Looks Forward
CFO Advisor
Plans what happens next. Uses your numbers to guide pricing, hiring, cash flow, and growth decisions before they become problems.
Why It Matters
The Questions a Bookkeeper Can't Answer, But a CFO Can
These are illustrative scenarios showing the kind of problems CFO advisory is built to catch, not case studies of specific clients.
Example Scenario
Profitable on Paper, Broke in Practice
The Situation
A seasonal service business shows a healthy profit every year, but scrambles for cash every winter.
How CFO Advisory Helps
A rolling cash flow forecast flags the seasonal gap months in advance, so reserves get set aside before the slow season hits, not during it.
Example Scenario
Growing Fast, Taking Home Less
The Situation
Revenue doubled this year, but somehow the owner is bringing home less money than before.
How CFO Advisory Helps
A profitability analysis by service line uncovers one offering that's actually being sold at a loss, and gets it repriced.
Example Scenario
Ready to Hire, Afraid to Look
The Situation
The team is stretched thin and a new hire feels overdue, but the owner isn't sure the business can actually support it.
How CFO Advisory Helps
A simple hiring cost model shows the real break-even point and cash impact, turning a guess into a decision.
Example Scenario
The Bank Wants Numbers You Don't Have
The Situation
A loan or line of credit application stalls because the bank keeps asking for projections and reports that don't exist yet.
How CFO Advisory Helps
Lender-ready financials and forecasts get built in advance, so the application moves instead of stalling.

Common Questions About CFO Advisory
What exactly does a CFO advisor do?
A CFO advisor turns your financial data into decisions. That means cash flow forecasting, profitability analysis, budgeting, and planning for growth, hiring, or financing, the same strategic work an in-house CFO would do, delivered on a fixed monthly retainer instead of a full-time salary.
I already have a bookkeeper or accountant. Do I need this too?
Likely yes, and they serve different purposes. Your bookkeeper keeps your records accurate, and your accountant handles compliance and tax filings. Neither role is built to tell you whether to hire, how to price a new service, or when your cash will run tight. CFO advisory fills that gap and works alongside your existing team.
Is CFO advisory only for big companies?
No. That's the most common misconception. Small businesses often need this kind of insight more than large ones, since a single bad pricing decision or cash crunch can hit much harder without a large company's cash reserves. Our plans are built specifically for small and mid-size businesses.
How much does CFO advisory cost?
Plans start at $850/month and are built as a custom, fixed-rate package based on your business size and how much strategic support you want. You'll always know your monthly cost in advance.
How is this different from tax planning?
Tax planning is focused on minimizing what you owe the IRS. CFO advisory is focused on the health and direction of your business day to day and month to month, cash flow, pricing, hiring, and growth decisions. Many clients use both together, since better financial visibility usually leads to better tax planning too.
How often will we actually meet?
It depends on your plan, ranging from a monthly strategy call on the Foundational plan up to bi-weekly sessions on the Strategic plan. Every plan includes a way to reach us between scheduled sessions if something urgent comes up.
What size business is a good fit for this?
Most of our CFO advisory clients are established small businesses, generally $250,000 to $5M in annual revenue, who've outgrown gut-feel decision making but aren't ready for a full-time finance hire. If you're not sure whether you fit, the free strategy call will tell you honestly.
Do I have to sign a long-term contract?
No. Our standard advisory agreements are month-to-month, and you can cancel with notice at any time. Clients who commit to a 12-month engagement receive preferred pricing compared to month-to-month billing.

Whether you want to talk it through first or you're ready to get started, pick the option that fits where you are.
